The Franklinton Fire Department proudly serves the Town of
Franklinton and surrounding areas with Fire and Rescue services. The Town
of Franklinton is located within Washington Parish, Louisiana
approximately 60 miles North of New Orleans. The fire department
currently operates out of one station and the apparatus fleet consists of
4 Engines, 1 Ladder, 1 Rescue, 1 Brush rig, 1 Tanker, 1 Air and utility
truck. We have 2 paid firefighters and 29 volunteer firefighters. The
station is staffed Monday thru Friday, 7am till 4pm, after which
volunteers man the station. Our mission is to protect and serve the Town
of Franklinton and its surrounding communities in which we are called
upon, with the strong dedication and professionalism of our members.
Structure
Fire off Pitman Rd. with a Rekindle call June
20th, 2008 – This morning the tones dropped for a structure fire
off of pitman rd. The fire was reported to be a fully involved mobile home.
Engine 4 cleared from a medical call and responded. Upon arrival the Engine
was met with a 15’ by 60’ singlewide with heavy fire that had vented itself
on one end. The initial crew led off with a 1 and ½ attack line. The fire was
controlled within 30 minutes. Other
units responding on this initial fire were Tanker 1 and Rescue 2. F-5 had
incident command. About 1 hour after all units had returned to quarters the
tones dropped again for the same address for a rekindle, This time Engine 4,
Engine 6, and the Chief responded.
Upon arrival the crews were met with a fire on the unburned side. The fire
was out in about 20 minutes. All company’s returned to quarters within 45
minutes. The Chief had incident command.
First
Responder Training Class June
16th, 2008 – Today we strated a first responder certification
course to get ready for are upcoming transition of handling medical calls.
The dates of the class are the 16th, 17th, 18th,
21st, 24th, 25th, 26th, and the
28th. Weekday classes will be held for 6 pm till 10 pm, the
saturdy classes will be held from 8 am till determined by the instructor.
After compleation of this course the department will start running medical
calls 24 hours a day 7 days a week inside city limits. FRATERNAL ORDER OF LEATHERHEADS
SOCIETY (F.O.O.L.S. International) Some members
have started, in cooperation with a few other individuals from other dept’s,
a local chapter of the F.O.O.L.S organization. The chapters name is
Southeastern Louisiana FOOL’s. Any firefighter in the parishes of Washington,
St. Tammany, Orleans, St. Bernard, Jefferson, Plaquemines, St. Charles,
Terrebonne, and Tangipahoa can join. The only requirement is that you are a
paid, volunteer, or a retired firefighter, regardless of rank. You can go to

26, 2008- Today Engine 4 attended the Funeral for fallen firefighter Riley
Joseph Terrebonne Jr. While Engine 4 was out two calls for service came in. The
first was a mutual aid request in district 1. Engine 6 and Tanker 1 responded
to a report of a mobile home on fire. They were on scene for a little over an
hour before returning to quarters. A little later Engine 5 and Rescue 1
responded to an MVA involving a motor home towing an SUV and a pickup truck
towing a bobcat on a trailer. Units operated on this scene for about two
hours before returning to Quarters. Arrangements for LODD Funeral
Information: Visitation for Firefighter will be held Friday, April 25 from 6
p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Brandon G. Thompson Funeral Home, 12012 Hwy 190,
Hammond, LA 70403. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 26 at 1 p.m. at the
funeral home. Burial will

Duty Death April
22, 2008- It is with deep regret we
advise you that a Springfield (Louisiana) Livingston Parish FPD# 2 FF was killed
in the Line of Duty in a secondary crash on I-55. While operating at the
initial crash scene on Monday, FF Riley Joseph Terrebone Jr (29) was
operating at the scene when another vehicle struck him and his nephew, also
reported to be a Firefighter. The nephew has critical but NLT injuries. We
will post additional details related to services and the crash as soon as
they are made available. The officers and members of the Franklinton Fire
department wish to offer our condolences to the family and the members of
Springfield Fire Department. We also wish the injured firefighter a speedy
recovery. Car Fire out in the district 17
April, 2008- Engine 4, Engine 6, and Rescue 1 responded to a car fire outside
of town off of HWY 430. Engine 4 arrived to a car with a fire in the engine
compartment; crews pulled a cross lay and extinguished the fire. Rescue 1 and
Engine 6 assisted with final extinguishment and overhaul. All units returned
to quarters in about a half hour. Automatic Alarm in District 3’s Territory 17
April, 2008- Engine 4 was dispatched to old Columbia rd. for a residential
fire alarm. Engine 4 went responding and advised dispatch that it was
actually in District 3 but they would keep on responding. Engine arrived
shortly before District 3 units. Upon arrival it was discovered to be a
faulty alarm and all units were returned to quarters. |
