Note: The original “The Fireman’s Prayer” is generally attributed to Firefighter A.W. “Smokey” Linn of Wichita, Kansas. In 1958, Mr. Linn wrote the prayer as a young firefighter to deal with his grief after he was unable to rescue three young children from a fire. This poem has gone on to inspire fire fighters the world over.  Â
