2008- It is with deep regret we advise you that a Springfield (Louisiana)
Livingston Parish FPD# 2 FF was killed in the Line of Duty in a secondary

services and the crash as soon as they are made available. The officers and

2008- Engine 4, Engine 6, and Rescue 1 responded to a car fire outside of
town off of HWY 430. Engine 4 arrived to a car with a fire in the engine
compartment; crews pulled a cross lay and extinguished the fire. Rescue 1 and
Engine 6 assisted with final extinguishment and overhaul. All units returned
to quarters in about a half hour. Automatic Alarm in District 3’s Territory 17 April,
2008- Engine 4 was dispatched to old Columbia rd. for a residential fire
alarm. Engine 4 went responding and advised dispatch that it was actually in
District 3 but they would keep on responding. Engine arrived shortly before
District 3 units. Upon arrival it was discovered to be a faulty alarm and all
units were returned to quarters. Smoke in the building 16 1pril,
2008- Engine 6, Tanker 1, and Rescue 2 were dispatched to a possible house
fire on Pico road just before midnight. F-3 Assistant Chief Bickham went on
scene and advised there was no visible fire but had a smoke condition in the
house. Upon arrival of all other units and further investigation it was
discovered to be grease on the stove. Members checked for extension and
ventilated the building. All units operated for about a half hour before
returning to quarters. Brush fire in our local 16 April,
2008- Today Engine 4 and Brush 1 responded to a possible brush fire on hwy
430 just outside city limits. Brush 1 and Engine 4 arrived to what they
believed was small brush fire in the rear of a mobile home. Upon further
investigation it was found to be much larger then originally thought. Because
it was advancing deeper into the woods a 2nd Alarm was requested
bringing in Engine 6 and District 3 firefighters for manpower. Due to rapid
deployment and quick knock of the fire by the crew of Engine 4 and Brush 1
the fire was controlled. Engine 6 arrived and assisted Brush 1 with final
extinguishment. District 3 was cancelled
upon their arrival. Units operated about an hour before returning to
quarters. Training Night 14 April,
2008- In preparation for our up and coming transition to handling medical
calls on a first responder basis we held a CPR training class tonight. We
will also be holding a First Responder Medical class in the very near future.
Once all training is complete we will begin responding within the city limits
for all medical emergencies. We will post this date when it becomes
available. Rekindle 13 April,
2008- Engine 6 was dispatched to a possible rekindle at the scene of the fire
from the day before. Engine 6 arrived
to light smoke showing. Upon further investigation it was discovered that a
bag of deer feed was smoldering. Engine 6 wet it down and returned to
quarters within 30 minutes. House Fire in our Service Area 12 April,
2008- Engine 6, Tanker 1, Rescue 1, and Rescue 2 were dispatched to a report
of a house fire outside of the city limits in our service area. Before units
left the station numerous calls were coming in that the house was on fire and
that all occupants were out. Rescue 2 arrived on scene first to a double wide
with heavy smoke all around and heavy fire in the rear. Once Engine 6 arrived
hand lines were deployed to the front door and to the rear. Tanker 1 set up
water supply. District 4 was requested for an additional tanker. Entry was
made in the front but the team was pushed out due to heavy smoke and fire
conditions and partial roof collapse.
Once all personal were out the decision was made to do a defensive
attack. The fire was declared under control in about an hour, with all units
returning after operating for about 3 hours.
(PICTURES COMING SOON) Mutual Aid to District 8 14 March,
2008- Rescue 2, Tanker 1, and Engine 6 were dispatched to assist District 8
on a working mobile home fire. Units were in service for about an hour before
